Septiembre se debería llamar Enero

El que todos los años comencemos a contar sus días desde el 1 de Enero es solo una cuestión de formulación de nuestro calendario y no tiene mayor significación que la puramente contable. En realidad, para quienes vivimos en el Hemisferio Norte el mes del año que más puede determinar el comienzo de nuevas etapas en nuestra vida es Septiembre y no Enero.

En otras ocasiones he traído a estas páginas la caudal importancia que “la Costumbre” representa en los procesos de mejora profesional y personal. La pesada inercia de comportamientos adquiridos durante largo tiempo suele ser tan fuerte que su modificación es por todos vivida como muy costosa, a no ser que acontezcan hitos de gran trascendencia capital cuyo brusco impacto nos obligue a variar el rumbo de nuestras cosas.

Esperar a esos acontecimientos (una grave enfermedad, un accidente, la pérdida de un ser querido, etc.) para propiciar el cambio necesario no es lo más conveniente pues dejamos en manos del a veces cruel “Destino” la fijación del nuestro propio. Por el contrario, buscar aquello que debemos mejorar por la simple convicción de que es lo que nos conviene y sin más, es lo que permanentemente puede embarcarnos en la mejor senda de crecimiento y desarrollo personal.

Ahora bien, como cambiar nuestras costumbres es harto difícil yo opino que es lícito y aconsejable buscar aquellos caminos con menos pendiente para favorecer el duro proceso. Uno de esos caminos es el que nos brinda el “cambio de ritmo vacacional”.

Por experiencia propia y toda la atesorada con mis clientes en los últimos años de ejercicio profesional, he llegado a la conclusión de que es muy difícil cambiar el rumbo de los aspectos esenciales de nuestra vida cuando nos encontramos instalados en la reiterativa cotidianeidad, pues el poder de la costumbre aquí se hace inexpugnable y perenne. La mejor oportunidad para ello siempre la encontraremos tras un periodo de descanso vacacional, al ofrecernos este la oportunidad de alejarnos de lo consuetudinario propiciando una más alta atalaya de visión sobre nuestra realidad y lo que es más importante, un oxigenador “cambio de ritmo vital”.

Pues bien, si de cambios de ritmo se trata, sin duda el que se produce durante las vacaciones de verano es el más significativo del año por la mayor duración de aquellas (muy superior a las de Navidad, Semana Santa, puentes, etc.) que ejerce como filtro limpiador de muchos de los condicionamientos mentales que manejamos de forma inconsciente durante el resto del año.

Todos los años pasa generosamente por nuestra puerta Septiembre, sin duda el más propicio de todos los meses para acometer algunos de esos cambios que pueden modificar el rumbo de nuestra vida y que lo configuran como el verdadero Enero de un nuevo y esperanzador ciclo personal.
